Kale Chips

Have you ever heard of kale chips? Most likely yes… but if not and you’re a fan of cheat snacks…meaning healthy snacks disguised as unhealthy snack…then kale chips might be a thing for you!
Kale chips are nothing but lightly toasted kale.  They’re light and crispy and satisfy the chip craving.
I decided to try my hand at this clever treat and I was pleasantly surprised with the results! Hopefully you will be too!
Step 1
First things first: start with your kale (wash and dry...drying is very important!).
Step 2
Rip the kale into chip sized pieces. Like all thing you bake remember that the smaller the pieces the faster it bakes (let’s just say round one of my kale chips creation was a trial round).

Step 3
Next you have to coat your chips in olive oil.  I put my kale in a large bowl and drizzled the oil over it and then used my hands to make sure I coated each piece evenly.
TIP: put your kale in a zip lock bag with the oil and shake.  This will also evenly coat your chip pieces.

Step 4
Spread your kale out onto a baking sheet.

Step 5
Sprinkle salt and pepper all over your chips (or if you’re feeling creative and like a little heat like me you can use chilli flakes or any other dried spice).

Step 6
BAKE!
I put my chips in at 300 degrees for about 10-15 minutes. I would highly recommend you keep an eye on your kale because it can turn brown quite easily.
Step 7
Enjoy your healthy snack!

The 90's Comeback

So…remember the 90’s? I certainly do…butterfly clips, tiny back packs, crop tops, and who could forget platform shoes popularized by The Spice Girls.  Well I am here to report that it’s all coming back!  Well maybe not all…so then, I’m sure you’re wondering, what trends from the 90’s are making a return to the fashion scene? Here are 4 of those hot retro looks that will be surfacing!

1. Mulberry lips
Dark lipstick was a huge hit on the spring 2013 runway this fall.  Instead of pairing this gorgeous colour with sparkly blue eye shadow, a trend that will hopefully NEVER be returning, match this bold lip with a natural clean eye.
2. Crop Top

We’ve seen it a bit this summer…and yes this trend is continuing! Ladies keep your stomachs in shape because the crop top is here to stay…at least for a little while longer.
3. The Platform Shoe

It’s no ordinary Ginger Spice style platform, but none the less, it’s still a platform!  Consider it a modern twist on 90’s style footwear.
4. Tight printed pants

Last season was proof that mixing patterns is a hot style.  And we’re seeing this trend carry over into this season!  My favourite look, pattern pants.  It’s an excellent way to add a little flare to your wardrobe instead of having a solid colour or jean.

DIY Makeup Palette

So the other day I found myself shopping online for makeup and I ended up buying several eye shadow colours.  When the package arrived, much to my surprise, the eye shadows had been sent individually…without a palette.  So I had a few options:

1.      I could go out and buy/order a palette online OR

2.      Use this as an opportunity to be creative

I guess my choice is pretty obvious. So, without further ado: DIY makeup palette
